We live in a highly visual world where the shift towards video is completely changing the content marketing game!
So while content is still the king, the ‘kind’ of content that is the king surely is ‘Video.’
Video content helps break boundaries, comes across as authentic and tells a story that no text or picture can.
As per Cisco’s Visual Networking Index , video is projected to drive about 80% of total global internet traffic in 2020.
By the way, Facebook and YouTube account for 47% and 42% respectively of overall videos watched online in India.
Video is transforming the whole content marketing landscape and is booming beyond Facebook & other social media channels.

As you might be aware, the number of smartphone users in India crossed 300 million as shipments grew 18% annually in 2016 compared to the global smartphone market which grew only 3%.
80% of all web traffic in India emanates from the mobile, a proportion that is the second highest in the world, after Nigeria.
Further, Reliance Jio is making mobile data inexpensive and disrupting the market.With low cost mobile data fueling video consumption, about 65% of the audience is watching videos over mobile data.
Affordable data services and big focus on local languages will indeed drive online video market deeper into the country.
If you want to be more personable with your audience, go a step beyond to be ‘Live.’Livestreaming is more than just a passing fad and is definitely being adapted by smart social media and marketing teams. The two biggest reasons why livestreaming is a boon to marketers is: ‘Volume’ and ‘Speed.’ It allows brands to share large volume of content in real-time and engages the audience live.
Live videos are interactive and authentic which makes it for a good content marketing strategy.

The most important fundamental of content marketing is to make great content. It’s not anymore about ‘catchy headlines’ but how well you tell a brand story through visually-centric networks!
Don’t get me wrong, good old fashioned ways of content marketing will be relevant — but a good content marketing strategy now absolutely requires mobile and video as part of the strategy.
